Unlike other
telcos who deploy
old circuit switched networks, our team has designed and implemented a state of
the art packetized network using the latest and greatest technological advances
in voice transmission services - DIGITAL. When you place a call over our network, it's digitized and routed to
your friend or relative over a high
quality digital private network (NOT the public Internet with it's inherent
quality issues due to the high traffic volume). Our highly efficient state of the art network provides
the platform that makes it possible to offer
UNLIMITED calling for one flat rate!
At
last, "zero cents per minute" allows you to call your friends
and family as often as you like, and talk for as long as you want,
without any concern about the cost or the ticking away of minutes! Not only do the low monthly
flat rate charges provide considerable savings over other long distance
companies, but you also have the freedom to call more people more often.
Stay in touch with all the special people in your life
without thinking twice about
your phone bills - and save
hundreds of dollars every year!
We're
"Changing the way America
Talks".

Will this service replace my existing
long distance service?
No. Your current long distance provider
will still be there as a backup to your new AmeriTalks® Long Distance calling
plan. If for any reason you choose to place long distance calls without using
our service, your old long distance company will be ready and willing to charge
you by the minute for your long distance calls.
For calls to International destinations, collect calls, calling card and
other card calls, you will need to retain your chosen 1+ long distance provider
that you have designated with your local phone provider.
Back
How do I make calls?
You can use the same regular phone you've been using for years! You
don't need to use a computer nor do you need any special
equipment other than your good ol' touch tone phone.
Once you complete the order process you will be given an access phone number
with which to call into our network. (For Local Access numbers it is
your responsibility to determine
with your local phone company whether or not there will be a charge
associated with any local phone numbers provided you.)
Back
How do I access the network and get the call to go through?
Easy as 1...2...3!
Use the following
process to make your call...
1. Simply dial your access number (as provided when you place your order).
2. Enter the phone number you want to call.
3. Start talking!
It's that simple!
Note: You can program your access
number into your phone to speed the process of dialing in to access our
network. Please refer to your phone manufacturers User Guide for
instructions on programming in a speed dial number.

Where can I call from?
Place calls from your registered phone anywhere in the continental United States.
In order to simplify your access into
our system, all of our calls are placed using ANI
Recognition which means that when you place your call, our system
automatically recognizes your phone number as the authorized phone
number and allows the call to be placed. Therefore a Personal
Identification Number is needed ONLY if you are NOT calling from your registered phone.
(Please note: If you are in a dorm or otherwise behind a
"switch" where you must dial "9" to get an outside
line then you will NOT be able to use a Plan that doesn't offer a PIN
number). If your bills are
high because you call one person a lot (and they are not behind a
switch) then consider having them sign up for one of our plans and then
call you back when you want to talk.
Back
Where can I call to?
Place calls TO anywhere in the continental United
States, Alaska, Hawaii, AND Canada depending on the plan you choose*.
You can call in state, out of state, inter-latta
or intra-latta (just across town) - it makes no
difference! With AmeriTalks® Long Distance it's always the same
great rate!
Back
Can I call long distance using my wireless phone?
YES! Using
Plans with a Personal Identification Number (PIN) you can call from phones
within a local access number or from virtually any phone as long as you
are on our 800# access system (as available). With some of our plans you
are more limited and can't use the Plan with your wireless phone unless
you register your wireless phone number as your primary number as opposed
to your land based phone.
In order to simplify your access into our system, all of our calls are
placed using ANI Recognition which means that when you place your call,
our system automatically recognizes your phone number as the authorized
phone number and allows the call to be placed. Therefore a Personal
Identification Number is needed if you are NOT calling from your
registered phone. See our Product Plan listing for Plans that offer PIN’s.
Note: While using our
Long Distance Service on a wireless phone
airtime charges still apply.
Back
Does the person I'm calling have to be using your service too?
No. You can call to anyone that has a phone including all land based phones AND
wireless phones!
Back
Do I have to change my long distance carrier?
No. Just start using our service instead!
Back
Are there any hidden monthly charges?
No. Except for the one time Activation Fee you will be paying only the exact price of your
AmeriTalks®
Long Distance Service Plan as listed on our
product
listing.
Back
What if I don't want to have to
enter in a
PIN number to make a call?
You don't have to! All of the calls placed from your
registered phone number use ANI
Recognition which means that when you place your call, our system
automatically recognizes your phone number as the authorized phone
number and allows the call to be placed. If you are using caller ID
blocking then you will have to punch (*82) in order to deactivate that
feature while you make your long distance call.
Back
Can I use the service when I'm traveling?
Using Plans with a Personal Identification Number
(PIN)
you can call from phones in other locations besides your registered
phone number by inputting your PIN number to gain access to the
system. If you are using a local access number to dial from your
registered phone line, you can place calls from any of our local
access numbers associated with your service (numbers available from
our website). Or, if you have been given an 800# access to the system
(as available), you can place calls from virtually any phone in
the continental US.
Back
What if I have more than one phone line in my home
or office?
With our multi line plans you can register two lines in
your home or up to seven in your office, or one in your home and one in
your office if they are located in the same area code.
Back
Can I use the system for fax and data transmission?
Fax usage is NOT a supported function. None of our plans
allow for ISP connections via modem.
Back
Can I do three way calling?
Yes, we offer 3 way calling with many of our plans. You
will need to have the three way calling feature assigned to your phone as
it is
available from your local phone company. Then, in order to place a three
way call simply flash over to the second dial tone, dial into the network
with your access number a second time, and then follow the prompts again
to place the second call. Once you've connected on the second call, flash
again to conference in both calls.
Back
Can I use the service for intra and
inter-latta calls?
Yes! You can make calls within your same local calling area with our
service as well. This can eliminate any toll charges you may incur when just calling
across town!
Back
Are there any line charges
from my local carrier associated with the service?
No! If you pay line charges to carry your regular long distance service, you
can eliminate your regular long distance service (unless you need long
distance for FAX applications) and thereby eliminate any
line charges!
Back
If I receive a Local Access
number to dial into your network, how do I know I won't be billed for the
call as a Toll call?
While we make every effort to ensure the validity and accuracy of
our local access numbers, the company will not be responsible for any telephone company charges incurred while using our network. To avoid any toll or long-distance telephone charges, please make sure that the number given you is a local call from your
telephone by calling your local phone company and asking them to please
verify the number. Please do not call AmeriTalks® as we cannot advise you as to whether or not the number is local to
your specific location.
Back
How long does it take to get service?
We can provision every account within one business day, unless it is a BETA product. In the case of BETA products
provisioning can take as much as 3 business days until we make sure our systems have been upgraded completely. Your order confirmation page will let you know what the next steps
will be with regard to the activation of your account. You will receive a welcome e-mail notifying you of activation and details on how to use your service.
Back
How do I pay for the service?
You will be pre-paying for the month and then you will automatically be
recharged seven days prior to the beginning of each new monthly cycle thereafter unless you
call to cancel your service before you are recharged. This gives you
more than enough time (3 weeks) to determine whether or not you like
the service and would like to continue for subsequent months. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American
Express and Electronic Checking where we will automatically charge your
credit card or draft your checking account each billing cycle.
Back
Are there any additional fees
with your service?
No, since this is a pre-paid service with unlimited
usage, you won't receive a monthly bill with your calls and call times
listed. Your credit card or eCheck will simply be billed the exact amount
of the Plan you chose and your credit card statement or eCheck transaction
will serve as your receipt. If you choose to use our eCheck service for
your automated charges there is a $6.50 charge for that service added to
each transaction.
Back
What if I want to cancel?
We'd like to think that nobody would ever want to cancel our service
since it's so economical. But if you ever want to cancel simply cancel
according to the instructions on our Terms and Conditions of Service at least
seven days prior to the end of your then current cycle of
service and it will be discontinued at the conclusion of your service
month.
